Nagahama Distillery's basic range "AMAHAGAN". This range is developed to cultivate our blending skill. Based on Blended Malt No. 1, in order to emphasize the influence of the different types of casks during aging, it was aged in bourbon casks and then refined in Andalusian wine casks, the famous sherry casks.

Following the fourth edition of "Yamazakura" released in February 2020, the first peated type comes in our regular range, AMAHAGAN. Nagahama's malt and world malt are well blended and partly aged in Bourbon cask for additional maturation, which leads the complex layers of flavours with smokey yet gorgeous aroma.

Liquor of well-ripen Kishu plum is blended with Nagahama's blended whisky, which makes this Umeshu approachable with pleasant aroma of plum and light flavour.

We carefully blended Bourbon barrel and Islay Quarter cask both distilled in 2019, and Mizunara cask and KOVAL whisky cask both distilled in 2020, with the technique and expertise cultivated through making our blended series AMAHAGAN world blended started in 2016. The key malts of the Third Batch are Bourbon barrel and Islay Quarter cask, which both are peated malt with the outstanding smoky flavors. By adding Mizunara cask and KOVAL whisky cask, the flavors become more oriental, bitter and full-bodied in the exquisitely well-balanced way.

Six unique casks (Bourbon, KOVAL whisky, Sweden Octave, Red Wine, Islay Quarter, Mizunara), distilled during May 2018 to August 2020, were carefully blended. Bourbon cask as the base whisky, the floral flavors of Red Wine and the woody flavors from Mizunara cask are integrated and well-balanced. The gift box shows the local natures which Nagahama Distillery is surrounded by: Mt. Ibuki, the migratory bird, Lake Biwa, the fish inhabitin in the lake. After awakening from the long sleep at Nagahama aging cellars, only the finest malt whiskies were carefully selected and blended by our master blender. This is the single malt whisky only available at travel retails.

Following "THE FIRST BATCH" released in October 2022, we launch our second single malt made only from Nagahama raw whisky. With the base whisky of Oloroso Sherry distilled in 2019, we carefully blended matured whiskies from ex-Koval cask, Islay Quarter cask, Bourbon Quarter cask by the experience and technique which have been cultivated through production of our world blended whisky series “AMAHAGAN”. The rich and mellow key malt from Nagahama Sherry cask harmonizes well with other whiskies, which the smoky yet elegant nuances that is gently fragrant in the aftertaste brings sorrow feeling.
